It Came from the Sky

Here’s my story for this week’s Friday Fictioneers based on the photo prompt below. It took me a while to settle on an idea this time around. I love the inspiration these prompts bring. I hope you enjoy!

It Came from the Sky

“It came from the sky! Is it the Monster?” the villagers asked Father Jessup as he rushed towards the smoldering barn.

“Stay inside,” the old priest cautioned them. It couldn’t be the Monster. That thing couldn’t fly.

If it was a space rock, they might be able to sell it and better arm themselves against the Monster. The Lord had finally answered his prayers.

An overweight figure staggered through the wide barn doors, reeking of booze and stretching its feathery white wings.

“I hear you have a demon problem,” it said, slurring its words. “They sent me to help!”

Pretty cute. I wonder which angel this is supposed to be. At any rate, a totally different take on the monster in the barn.

  2. Dawn says:

Are his wings simply borrowed? It doesn’t seem as if he has earned them yet. ;)

  3. janet says:

Got me chuckling! Not what I hope angels are like, but…

    Enjoy the weekend,

    janet

  7. Dear H. L.
I enjoyed your take on the prompt. I only hope that isn’t what my guardian angel is like. ;)

  9. Oh, this character could star in a novel, each chapter a different adventure. What a great premise. Think about it.

  10. Bee says:

This is kind of timely with that meteor that landed…wherever. lol I definitely want to know more about this “superhero”!

  11. ron pruitt says:

    Hi H.L.,
This is wildly imaginative. A drunken angel, villagers attacked by a monster, what a scenario! Ron

  12. So cute. Enjoyed it. No clue where it was going until the very end.

  13. Bjorn says:

Ha, that sounds like a little special kind of superhero. ;-)

  14. tedstrutz says:

  16. Abraham says:

I like this! Quite different! I hope the overweight figure was sent because he actually knows his stuff :-)

  17. Joe says:

Surely a different take on the prompt, but something unexpected is always nice.
