Hell Hath No Fury

“Shh…” Mike said softly amid the crying. “Why won’t he stop?”
Susan placed a hand on her forehead and grimaced. “I don’t know.”
Titan purred while he rubbed his head against Susan’s arm. “Stop,” she said and brushed him away.
“Your turn.” Mike handed Susan the baby and she rocked him gently while singing a soft song. The crying stopped and the baby closed his eyes. The relieved parents looked at each other and smiled.
When the glass hit the floor and shattered, the baby woke and started wailing again. They looked at Titan who stared back with wide eyes.

I’m a little late for this week’s Friday Fictioneers. I thought about skipping, but that photo is just too good.
I would have toss that cat outside for the night. Poor parents finally getting the baby to sleep. Oh I remember well the nights of colic.
That would NOT be a good moment!! Not much worse than a baby that won’t stop crying…except one that stops and then starts again. May your Christmas be void of all such catastrophes!
I will smack that cat silly no doubt. Very nice take on the prompt…
Dear H.L.
This makes me wonder if you’re speaking from the voice of experience. Well done take on the prompt.
Thank you for your kind comments on my story.
Merry Christmas,
Rochelle
It’s Titan’s way of saying…”Hey, look over here… I want some attention too. After all, I was here first.”
I can see this happening. Mine just knocked a glass of water all over my shoes. Great story!
A scene out of everyday life. Excellent writing!
Aww, the poor cat’s nose has been put out of joint with the new arrival. At least he’s not ‘performing’ in the linen cupboard, as did the cat belonging to a friend of mine after her first baby. Nice one.
Ah, jealousy. I could see a domestic comedy here. Nice work!
Sounds like a cat too me…well done.
Tom
I won’t be surprised if the cat was waiting for the right moment to do that.
Wily creatures, them cats!
Nice story. Good work.
Merry Christmas!
This was life captured perfectly by your pen. I’m glad i got to read it. That cat would have ended up in the washing machine for a few minutes. They know exactly what they’re doing.
Aloha,
Doug
oh, that bastard of a cat! he knew exactly what he was doing! well done.
This was a nice little story.
