A Young Boy

“Uh, Mr. Senator, the FBI is here…”
The man felt no shame about the bribes or drugs, but he wondered how the boy in the old farm photo on the shelf would feel.

I just came across the website Trifecta that hosts two weekly writing challenges. I thought I’d take a crack at it.
Sometimes the only person you need to live with is yourself.
Very true!
I agree with Joe. Very well written.
Thank you!
Welcome to the party! I have often wondered what the child I was would think of the adult I have become. Great job!
Hopefully she is impressed and inspired!
Conscience in the Senate!?!
welcome to the challenge. No going back, eh?
Nope, I’m hooked
Welcome to the club. Glad you brought such a good story with you, too. Lots of juicy tidbits that can be inferred but not confirmed without elaboration on your part so, I hope to hear more of this story at a future time. Until then, congrats on a smashing debut!
Thank you very much!
I interpret this to say the boy in the photo was the Senator’s younger self. I wonder what any of our younger selves would think of the people we are today.
Let’s hope they are not ashamed
*in Cave Johnson voice* Welcome, new Trifectan!
This piece says a lot in only a few lines. I like it (:
Many thanks!
If the younger you would have wanted to kick the older you in the arse, there’s a problem…
A very big problem indeed
It’s too bad he didn’t start to wonder that before he got involved in the bribes and drugs… Nice entry.
It could have saved him a lot of trouble
Welcome. A great debut!
Thanks!
Welcome! As others have said – a great debut. Innocence lost.
Sometimes we pay a price that lies heavy on our souls for aiming too high & though the Senator feels no remorse,he still wonders about the young boy-he has not been able to forget his roots & a simpler life-a higher dream perhaps? What a wonderful piece to enter the world of Trifectans with-welcome to the fold:-)
Nice take on the photo. I liked this!
Oh, I do love the few posts that treat the pictures as photographs. Kind of meta. Very moving. Thanks so much for linking up with us this weekend. Welcome to the challenge! Make sure you go back and vote for your top three, and hopefully we’ll see you again on Monday for our weekday prompt.
Welcome to Trifecta! Interesting that he would get involved with bribes and drugs, but then give the boy so much as a thought.
Original and strong response to the photo. Nice..
I may have to try Trifecta…
