It’s that time again!
I was strongly considering skipping NaNoWriMo this year in favor of writing more short stories and trying to get more publishing credits under my belt, but ultimately I realized that there’s no other time during the year that I’m going to be insanely motivated to dive in and try to write a novel.
I had a lot of success last year and was happy with the product I ended up with (even though I have yet to finish editing it!). I attribute that success to the amount of planning and outlining I did (and the accelerated schedule). I had a strong chapter by chapter outline of what I wanted to happen as well as notes for settings and character backgrounds that I would weave throughout.
This year…not so much. I switched jobs last month and moved to a new city so there hasn’t been a lot of time to plan for NaNoWriMo. I’ve got a kernel of a plot and a skeleton outline, but as I type this I’m starting to become terrified.
Only a few days left to get my act together!
